Yes, I can't get on PPMB and the DariaWiki is listed as having issues with it's host.

This makes me :(

Any news? The wiki was down two nights ago and the Paper Pusher went down about 6 or 7pm eastern (US) on the 13th. Even the fandom blog has glitches. I checked all of the twitters and blogs but nothing.

There's nothing wrong with PPMB. Just Google 'PPMB', or follow this link.

:)

As for the Wiki, that's a problem. There's some thinking that there were a lot more visitors than usual to the Daria Wiki because a site called The AV Club, which did a review of the musical episode Daria! a couple of days ago, and that's what caused the problem.

It is not letting me connect to the PPMB page for some weird reason. Keeps saying it doesn't connect.

I saw, but PPMB still won't show up.

And not just on my computer, it won't work on my phone either. (diff connection) :(

Strangely, it's been working on my computer, but not my phone; I'm using Internet Explorer 9 and Safari, respectively, to access it. Maybe it's a browser issue?

Weird. It's fine for me.

I don't suppose there's a workaround or if it's a glitch that'll fix itself.

Since yahoo.news is screwy like this on my computer and I never could figure out how to sort it out.

I don't want to lose access to PPMB. :(

I'm the exact opposite. I think the problem is my connection. I can go anywhere but PPMB on my computer.
Any tech types here that can give me a hand? I've reset my router and modem. I released, flushed DNS, and renewed.

I haven't been able to connect to PPMB since Wednesday either. Some quick troubleshooting today makes it look like the problem is either in Softlayer or Site5's routing.

It looks like the site is being hosted out of an old ThePlanet.com (now Softlayer) facility in Dallas. I can hit some of their addresses, but not all. I've tried from some other locations, and not all have the problems. Hurricane Electric, for instance, doesn't have any problems connecting. Sprint does (Sprint's Looking Glass).

When there is a problem, the trace always dies at the link between Softlayer and Site5. The Site5 address looks like it's the actual server, not a router. It also looks like there's a routing loop at the last Softlayer link between these two routers:

te5-1.car12.dllstx6.networklayer.com (70.87.254.226)
te6-1.car12.dllstx6.networklayer.com (70.87.254.230)

Again, it only happens from some sources, but if you're one of them you won't be able to connect.

Given where the problem is, it's going to take whoever's paying for hosting to bring up the issue with Site5 so they can bring up the issue with Softlayer.

If they need information to provide for the trouble ticket, let me know.

I haven't had problems with the PPMB, but I will let the board over there know--including Wraith's post.

:o It is the dark magic of the Iron Chefs at work. Perhaps when all ten of the Shockfest 2007 IC are completed the present mods of PPMB will disapear from the fandom altogether and people will begin discussing more important topics? :o

It's working for me now, but it looks like there are still places that can't reach it. Guess they've started fixing whatever it was.

Very interesting! I'll see if I can contact Snips about it and see what the problem was.

Is it just me or is PPMB down again? (For the record, neither AT&T or Verizon, for me, is able to get on, so I think something's wrong with the server.)

I'm having trouble getting on PPMB as well.

Edit: By the way...welcome to the SFMB, Peetz.

Down For Everyone Or Just Me confirms it's down, and it won't load for me. Nothing new in Kara's Twitter Feed, but that may just be because she hasn't found out about it yet.

Finally, there's an error message:

Quote:
General Error

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) [2002]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

So it is something with the server.

Incidentally, this is what I found while searching for "SQL ERROR":

Indrek at forum.notebookreview.com wrote:
What CluchX2 said. SQL stands for Structured Query Language, and it's used by websites to request data from the database, and send modified data back to it. For instance, when you read this thread, the forum software requests all the posts and some other information (like the posting rules at the bottom, the list of most shared laptops to the left, and so on) from the database using SQL, and when you post a reply, it sends it back to the database, again using SQL.

Nothing you can do about such errors. In all likelihood the website staff has already been notified (in many cases they receive an automatic email whenever an error occurs on the website) and will take care of it, so just sit back and try again a little later.

Sounds as if it may be an up/down thing - it's up for me. This has happened a bit recently. I'll see if Snips can do anything.
