The British Prime Minister--seeking to strengthen her hand heading into negotiations for the UK to leave the EU--will ask the House of Commons tomorrow to approve an early dissolution of Parliament and for elections to be held on June 8

Details here.

May is hoping to capitalize on current internal turmoil within the Labour Party under leader Jeremy Corbyn and the fact that the Liberal Democrats are down to nine seats. However, the Scottish National Party--which now pushing for a second independence referendum--could be a wild card in this election.

Under the terms of the Fixed Term Parliaments Act, a two-thirds majority of the Commons would be needed to go ahead with the early election.

This is going to be interesting to say the least.
