For no apparent reason, I have decided to start a top ten thread in this forum. If you want to contribute to this thread, here are the rules;

1-All lists must consist of ten items, no more, no less.

2-All topics are acceptable for a top ten list.

3-Any topic rated R-X should be posted on a more appropriate forum, let's keep it reasonably clean here.

4-No flaming someone else's top ten list.

5-Contribute as often as you like, I'll probably post here about once a week.

6-Don't feel pressured to be funny or clever all the time, just post what you want.

7-If you can't come up with ten items for your list, non sequiturs are acceptable.

8-JOAN JETT ROCKS!

9-Try to avoid repeating yourself.

10-Try to avoid repeating - damn.

Top ten coolest non-avian dinosaur names.

1. Tyrannosaurus rex, the one on everybody's tongue, the only saurian known for both it's generic and specific name.

2. Parasaurolophus

3. Utahraptor, star of George Bakker's novel "Raptor Red." Hell, anything with the word "raptor" in it, even in avian dinosaurs (birds).

4. Protoceratops andrewski, named after one of my favorite paleontologists, George Chapman Andrews.

5. Daspletosaurus, a tyrannosaurid. For some reason I just love that name.

6. Maiasaura, a hadrosaurid (duck-billed dinosaurs), first to have a generic name with a feminine ending.

7. Albertosaurus, named after the Canadian province (right, who said "which one?") and the only therapod found in Alabama. Another tyranosaurid, it also reminds me of Albert the Aligator from "Pogo."

8. Allosaurus fragilus, which really wasn't... fragile, that is. A Jurassic era theropod and consumate bad ass.

9. Charcarodontosaurus, how can you not like a therapod named after shark? (from Chardarodon Charcarius, the great white shark.)

10. Coelophysis, proto-therapods from the Triasic period, and the only ones I know that have a ghost story.

Honorable mention to the pterodactyls Rhamphorynchus and Quetzocoatlsaurus, the marine reptiles Lioplurodon and Plesiosaur, the pre-Mesozoic reptile Dimetrodon, and the fake dino, Brontosaurus, that turned out to be an Apatosaurus with a Diploducus' head.

Is there anyone on this board who DOESN'T have obnoxious neighbors?

To your list, I would also like to add:

11. Damien's Greatest Hits (my neighbors have a kid who screams a lot...we've nicknamed him Damien)

12. Thud Thud Thud (the sequel to 'Doof Doof Doof')

13. The Soundtrack to "Rednecks" (not surprisingly, there are a lot of country songs on this one)

14. Music to Clean Your Gun By

I'd add more, but I have to go clean my gun.

Ms. Kitty

/raises hand.

we live in the 'suburbia' section of a rural town. the old suburbia. Our neighbours are mostly retirees or people with school-age kids. We do have a growing collection of balls over the fence, but for some reason Lew and I have never had bad neighbours for long. In Griffith, our neighbours were scared of us (anyone who is brazenly wiccan in a catholic/wannabe mafia town they assumed was not to be messed with). Here, i don't know. Maybe we're just lucky?

The asian lady and her horrible kids, while they dinged my car to hell and back, were at least, quiet. I mean they probably made a racket but it never came though the walls. These new people must have a serious sub-woofer to be making this kind of noise.

This is new for us. They just moved in.

Ten Great Movies that don't Get Enough Attention.

Some of these may already be on some critics' "Best of" or "Greatest Ever" lists, but even if they are, the deserve to be seen more than talked about:

1. I Know Where I'm Going!
2. It Happened Here
3. One, Two, Three
4. The Stunt Man
5. Putney Swope
6. Stray Dog. OK, so it is Kurosawa--I think the movies he made about the Japan of his time get short shrift compared to the period pieces.
7. Park Row. Unbelievable, but this isn't available on VHS or DVD. I got to see it at the Walter Reade theatre when Fuller's memoirs were published. Puts most contemporary action/adventure movies to shame. If you get the chance to see it, do. In the meantime, pray for a DVD release.
8. Sunrise. A friend who worked in film restoration dragged me to see this. I still owe him for it.
9. Force of Evil. The acting is rather ham handed, but my god what a beautiful movie.
10. Trust
