We used to play this in college. It's really tough, but fun. Good for long car trips, afternoons in lab, or irritating impatient people. I usually tried to solve them in the first question, which never works.

What you get is the last line of a story. Using only yes or no questions, you have to figure out what happened to get to that point.

I'll start with the easier one of the two I know:

There were 154 dead people in the cabin on the mountain.

Just to help you get started, good questions would be like:

Were they killed by... (though this usually doesn't work very well.)
Were they all (occupation/hobby/etc.)...
Is X important? (who they were, what they were doing at the time, etc.)

Was the weather involved in their deaths?

Did they have something besides the manner of their deaths in common?

I'll say yes.

Sort of.

Actually these two are good examples of questions that have "depends on how you look at it" answers. Try being really specific in your questions.

Good job so far. Keep going.

Actually, we did these in school, too, and I found the best way to do it was start general and get more specific as you uncover more. But I'll try to ask more careful questions. :)

Um... Had it been snowing on the mountain?

Did they live in the cabin? (I mean, before they died, obviously) :)

Some of them did.

As I'm sure it'll come up with a serious question, I'll tell you if your question is relevant or not.

(I'll ask the obvious--and therefore most probably wrong--one)

Did they freeze to death?

Did they kill themselves in some way?

Were their deaths accidental?

Were they killed intentionally by an outside force?

Did their deaths involve some act of nature?

I don't mean weather, I mean like earthquake, animals, volcano, comet, etc.

Did it in anyway involve a fire?

Does whoever solves it get to do the next puzzle?

Did they all die at the same time?

Did they all die from the same thing?

Did they all die in the cabin?

Were there any other people in the cabin besides the 154 who did not die?

Actually, did the plane hit a blizzard and make a crash landing higher up than they thought they would?

Actually, the alcohol helped. I didn't have a clue until I was drunk of conty balls and read it and thought about it a bit. as for riddles, I suck at thinking of them, but I love solving them, so angelinhel, please give us another one. :)

okay dokey. this one is much, much more complicated:

Three men walk into a resturant. They all order albatross. After they all take one bite, one man gets up, walks outside and shoots himself in the head.

why?

Had he ever tasted albatross before?

Was there any orange jello involved?
